Abstract

|
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts on growth inhibitory activity of human ovarian carcinoma. The results of this study were as follows:
1. Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts showed a potent inhibitory activity on human ovarian carcinoma cell of SNU-251 cell by tumor cell specific cytotoxicity.
2. The number of SNU-251 cells were significantly decreased in treated group as compared with control group.
3. Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts affected the morphological change of SNU-251 cell.
4. Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts inhibited protein synthesis of SNU-251 cell.
According to the above results, it is considered that Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts have inhibitory effects on growth of human ovarian carcinoma cell of SNU-251 cell. Thus the herb medicin could be used for clinical trials to treat.
